I just purchased all elfa bookcases and they are amazing. Sleek design and very functional. I would stick with what works.

The option that I ended up going with is the Helix Wall Mounted Bookcase from CB2 they are about $200 each and a great hybrid of both the elfa and wall hung bookshelves. Good luck.

We used elfa in our closet and it's pretty cool. Cheap too. As for book cases we went back and forth over custom or already made. We decided on the Vitsoe track system and it is, no joke, the best thing we ever bought. Our friends have it in their house and we fell in love with the function and style. Now we have it too. You can add shelves, desks, cabinets. Anything you want. We have all books, a desk, our flatscreen. Almost no weight restrictions. Moss carries it and the service is impeccable. Having it installed was the highlight of our renovations and they guys were cute, too!

I cannot comment on the ELFA system for book shelves but we've done two closets with ELFA systems and are very happy with both of them. Very easy to install and very attractive.
