Picture this... Forget minimalism, more is more.

Nail it. Hang it. Frame it. Show it off.
THE RULES:
There aren’t any really so here are a few things to consider…
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
1. Don’t be afraid to layer. Hang pictures over other pictures, and then others things over that. Drape the beads your sister brought back from India over the doll made of soda caps that you found in the alley. When hanging pictures over other pictures, make sure that you use extra long nails and/or screws to account for the distance from the wall. It the frame or object tilts as a result of being layered in an offset way, roll up a small ball of paper towel and place behind it as a support.
2. Use several types of frame sizes, widths and finishes. The diversity of shapes and colors keeps the composition rich and interesting. Just like people!
3. Intermix photos with paintings with drawings with printed pieces. A wall of gorgeous photos is lovely but when it’s mixed with some great drawings and paintings or even posters, advertisements or mug shots…it helps the beauty of the photo stand out…and vice versa.
4. Also…mix high-end acquisitions with low-end finds. I was fortunate enough years ago to be given a small Peter Beard photo for my birthday. It looks great layered up with a cheaply framed nude drawing I made in college as well as a flea market painting I named “Angry Tricia”.
5. Illuminate your favorite pieces with standard picture lighting, angled floor or track lighting, or even wall mounted candelabras.
6. Your collection is as alive as you are. Keep it growing and changing. Remove items you no longer appreciate and put up things that inspire, move and stir you. Art and objects shouldn’t be mere decorations…they should be extensions of you and the way you experience the world. Remember…you can’t buy life from the pages of a catalog.
